  14. You still have a finite amount of bandwith over your connection, so Netscrape
  15. really isn't 'faster'.  But multiple connections can really help.  Instead of
  16. downloading one graphic at a time, you can be downloading multiple;  Small
  17. images will tend to appear first and 'fill out' the page while the rest come
  18. in.

  20. Take for instance a Web page with a large graphic at the top;  The first image
  21. on the page.  The rest of the images consist of small icons.  A normal browser
  22. would download the whole thing big picture, and then move on to the icons.  A
  23. browser with multiple connections would work on the big picture, and at the
  24. same time start filling in the little icons, which are probably more
  25. 'important' than the big pretty header at the top.

  27. The speed at which the big graphic at the top gets downloaded is slower than
  28. if it dedicated the whole connection just to it, but the web page forms it's
  29. self quicker in the sense that more objects appear sooner.
